The London Mela brings together the best of South Asian culture at Gunnersbury Park, Ealing. Entrance is free and the event offers live music, dance, film and fashion alongside market stalls and a mouthwatering selection of food and drink.
Multiple stages, tented venues and performance spaces offer everything from mainstream pop to classical music, cutting-edge urban grooves to exciting East/West fusions. There are also heritage attractions, modern and traditional dance performances, children's and sports activities, traditional craft stalls, a huge funfair and a spectacular carnival-style finale.

With over 60,000 people expected to attend, the London event is the capital's largest for the South Asian community this summer, and a great family day out.

The Edinburgh Mela

Post by SparkyDarky » Mon May 07, 2007 10:21 am

The Edinburgh Mela is not an attempt to recreate a south Asian mela. What is possible is to bring many aspects of the south Asian traditions and those of other cultures into a modern Scottish environment - and make something beautiful and natural.

PLACE:

Pilrig Park is situated just off Leith Walk at the Junction of Pilrig Street and Bonnington Road. There are entrances from Pilrig Street, Balfour Street and Bonnington Road.

Mela 2007 programme will be available soon so please visit us again to find out about all the special events taking place this year.
